Denver Moves Everyone
Throughout 2021, the Denver Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DOTI) collected feedback for Denver Moves Everyone 2050, a citywide plan for the future of transportation in our city, where everyone can get where they need to go — safely, conveniently, equitably and sustainably. To date, public feedback shaped Denver’s transportation vision and goals, setting the foundation for this two-year planning effort. Now, DOTI is collecting feedback to understand preferences about how to spend transportation dollars to make travel better, and the City needs your input! Feedback collected will shape how Denver prioritizes future transportation investments.

Free Trees
One of the best ways to combat Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) and improve Denver’s precious tree canopy is to plant a tree on your property.
Apply For a Free Tree Applying online is easy, and a certified arborist will carefully evaluate your space, determine the best kind of tree for your property and, if you qualify, the new tree will be delivered and planted along with specific instructions for how to immediately provide the best care for your tree to ensure a healthy future. Gap Plan Since 1 in 6 trees in Denver is an ash, it’s certain that when EAB is discovered here there will be some tree loss. To proactively combat these inevitable gaps, the Office of the City Forester launched the Ash Tree Gap Removal & Replacement Program to remove and replace smaller, poor-condition ash trees in the public right-of-way. Apply online. Forestry Neighborhood Initiative This program is dedicated to pruning or removing trees that pose a risk to public safety, and also includes planting trees in the public right-of-way. The program is currently focused on specific neighborhoods in southwest Denver. However, everyone in Denver is eligible for a free tree planting, so property owners can apply online. While not part of the city’s programing, consider planting a tree in your yard! Check this list of trees researched and approved by the Office of the City Forester that do well in our unique climate. For more information about any of these programs, email tree@denvergov.org or call 720-913-0651. |

Mississippi Ave. Vision Zero Improvements
In 2019, we held a meeting on what safety improvements the community would like to see on Mississippi. Our Dept. of Transportation & Infrastructure (DOTI) team used that information and received a $2.1M grant from CDOT to design and build the project. The safety project will reconfigure Mississippi from Eliot St to Quivas St (project boundaries will be reassessed during design) by removing a travel lane, extending the curb lines, and building intersection medians throughout the corridor to reduce speeds, limit left turns, and provide greater comfort for pedestrians by reducing crossing distances and pedestrian refuges.
Ruby Hill Safe Routes to Schools Improvements
As part of the Safe Routes to School Program to increase bicycle and pedestrian safety in school zones and on city streets, Denver Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DOTI) staff are coordinating efforts to install pedestrian and bicycle intersection improvements in the Ruby Hill neighborhood.
Improvements include:

Jewell/Evans Station Bike/Pedestrian Bridges
This project includes design and construction of a bicycle and pedestrian bridge that spans US-85/Santa Fe Drive and the southwest rail system and provides critical regional bike and pedestrian trail linkage and east-west connectivity between transportation and recreational resources. Neighborhoods to the east (Overland, Platte Park, Rosedale, University, Washington Park) will have access to the South Platte River Trail/Ruby Hill Park and neighborhoods to the west (Overland, Ruby Hill, College View and southwest Denver) will have access to the RTD Evans Station. Design begins in 2021. Due to land acquisition and coordination between federal and local governments and railroads, this project is expected to be completed in 2025.
