![]() Each year on April 22, people around the globe celebrate Earth Day by demonstrating the need for conservation and environmental responsibility. Denver Environmental Health is commemorating this important day by hosting is annual Earth Day Denver event on April 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Wellington Webb Building Atrium (201 W. Colfax Ave). Join more than 40 local businesses, non-profits and city agencies showing off unique ways to make Denver a greener place to live, work and play. The free event features interactive and educational displays that demonstrate ways to live more sustainability in your home, community and work. Attendees can learn about a diverse array of sustainable resources and activities including: peddling bikes to power a blender, powering electricity to KBCO with energisimple bikes, electric vehicle options, Maven car sharing, Denver Police Department, Denver Recycles, EPA, Congress Park Neighbors Green Team, hands on activities like creating art postcards for Mother Earth with Americas for Conservation and the Arts, home solar education with Production Solar Solutions, Colorado Renewable Energy Society, Solar Decathlon, mobile devices compliments of BriteStreet Energy, sample crickets and learn cooking techniques from Rocky Mountain Micro Ranch, and tour a tiny house provided by Xcel Energy. Since the creation of Earth Day in 1970, people from around the world have come together to celebrate and promote environmental conservation and sustainability. All activities and displays are designed to educate and engage residents in protecting our natural resources, and celebrate innovative and sustainable local projects, programs and businesses. Denver area residents, students and downtown employees are encouraged to stop by learn how Denver organizations are making it possible for everyone - to make difference. Earth Day Denver is a Certified Green event, which ensures sustainable practices are in place to minimize the events impact on the planet.
