Despite Old Man Winter’s recent visit to Denver, now is the time to plan for spring gardening, and The Park People has the perfect solution for homeowners in need of affordable trees. Applications for the nonprofit’s Denver Digs Trees program, which provides Denver residents with low-cost or free trees, are available now. The deadline to apply is Feb. 15, and trees will be distributed on April 15.
Street trees (planted in the public right-of-way) are all free. Yard trees (planted on private property) also are offered at a highly discounted price of $10 in targeted low tree-canopy neighborhoods, and $35 in all other Denver neighborhoods. This is a great deal, as these trees would typically retail for $100-125. People experiencing financial hardship may request a treeship to receive their yard trees at no cost. Visit TheParkPeople.org to apply, or call 303-722-6262 to request an application. Comments are closed.
