Please accept this invitation to attend a Community Forum hosted by the Denver Sheriff Department (DSD) on Thursday, February 8, 2018, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Hiawatha Davis Jr. Recreation Center located at 3334 Holly Street, Denver CO 80207.
The Sheriff Department wants to begin a community discussion around our mission to serve and protect our diverse community, share our strategic plan and provide updates on reform efforts. In addition to the Sheriff and Command Staff, several front-line deputy sheriffs will be on hand to provide insight into the tough jobs they perform, having to handle difficult populations and situations day to day with professionalism. Members of the Sheriff Advisory Board (SAB) will be in attendance as well. The SAB was created in 2017 to serve as a formal community engagement mechanism to promote collaboration with the DSD regarding matters that span service delivery to individuals incarcerated in DSD custody, their families, the community at-large and service providers. The primary goals of the SAB are to promote advisement and set priority areas of focus to the Sheriff and the Department. Key to this effort is to hear directly from members of the community in a conversation to know how else we can serve you and address concerns you may have concerning jail and detention center operations as they relate to family and loved ones in our care. Also, your comments concerning our future direction are welcomed as well. We believe developing and engaging in greater communication opportunities can help aid in more understanding and clarity of roles between DSD and those we serve. Please join us for the start of these critical conversations. Comments are closed.
