National Child Abuse Prevention Month

4/6/2017

We all play a role in helping Denver’s kids thrive by working together to improve child safety and strengthen families. National Child Abuse Prevention Month reinforces the opportunities we all have to partner together to increase awareness in our community of ways we can support family. In April, Denver Human Services will promote the month through a variety of community activities. Thank you to those of you that have already included information in your newsletters and on social media. Please continue to spread the word about all the great opportunities below:

  • Come to our free Wellness Fair kick off with Mayor Michael B. Hancock, on Friday, April 7 at the Richard T. Castro Building (1200 Federal Blvd.). DHS is bringing together a number of community partners to share resources and information for families and community members about the network of support options available through DHS.  See attached flyer for more information (in English and Spanish).
  • Join us for Bluesdays — wear blue on Tuesdays — to highlight the fact that we all play a role in keeping kids safe and families healthy. Take a photo of your team in their Bluesday attire and share it with us on social media! (www.twitter.com/DenverDHS #WearblueCO #CO4KIDS or www.facebook.com/DenverHumanServices)
  • Last call to plan a pinwheel garden planting – email Victoria to sign up!
  • Attend the Rockies game on Sunday, April 23 and join others in the community bringing attention to the importance of child safety in our community.
  • Meet international best-selling author and child welfare advocate, Ashley Rhodes-Courter, MSW and learn more about the strength of foster families on Saturday, April 29.
  • Spread the word about our community events through your communications channels.
  •  Attend a Youth Mental Health First Aid Training on April 15, 21 or 27.
