![]() There are not many things about this job that are easy, but one of the hardest parts is representing 55,000 individuals and the diverse array of all of your thoughts, passions, and ideas for our great city. When I ran for office I told you that we might not always agree, but that I would work hard to make sure that everyone had a seat at the table to make their voice heard. A number of months ago, a group approached the City and asked if they could put on a music festival at Overland Golf Course. The City has been reviewing this request through conversations and meetings with nearby Registered Neighborhood Organizations (RNOs), the Golf Advisory Board, the Women and Men's Club at Overland, the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board (PRAB), and constituents throughout the district. As part of this effort, Denver created an online survey where stakeholders could give feedback regarding a variety of issues that residents and golfers identified as important should this move forward. After evaluating the comments collected at all of the meetings, through emails and phone calls, and through over 1500 responses to the survey, the city has decided to move to the next step and start drafting a contract with the organizers of the festival. There is still a long way to go between where we are and a festival happening at Overland. There is a difference between talking about whether or not concerns about things like traffic, noise, trash, wildlife, and protecting the golf course could be mitigated, and seeing on paper that those concerns will be mitigated. I will work hard to make sure that the concerns raised through this process are addressed in the final contract that will come in front of City Council. If you haven’t had a chance to voice your concerns, please reach out so that I can represent you through this process. Below are some resources and information to help you learn more about this festival, the results of the survey, and the process so far. It is an honor and a privilege to represent you. On issues like this it is impossible that I can, with a single vote, represent all of your perspectives, but I will continue to work hard to do the best that I can for this community that I love. As always, please feel free to reach out if you would like to chat about this or any other issue in the District.
