![]() Byers and Pecos Park
New playground equipment was installed by volunteers in May 2018. Upcoming project features include accessible walkways, a tot lot with mounding, site furnishings, a picnic shelter, new landscaping including perennials, shrubs, and trees, irrigation, and a concrete basketball court. Renaming Valverde Park
To honor Elaine and Alfred Ulibarri, community members are gathering signatures to name the unnamed park in Valverde (Bryant & Ellsworth) in their honor. The Ulibarris organized community meetings for the Chicano Movements in the 1960-70s, were neighborhood advocates and Elaine was a founding member of Servicios de la Raza. Please get in touch with our office if you would like to help gather signatures of support. The renaming will be presented at the PRAB board before it is voted on by City Council. |
![]() Godsman Park Tennis Courts
Through the community input process, the tennis courts will be replaced with one (1) tennis court and one (1) full-sized basketball court. Additional amenities include: additional seating, hopscotch, foursquare, and bike racks to be installed. Please note that three (3) trees will need to be removed on the eastern side of the tennis courts to accommodate full-sized courts. To mitigate this loss, eleven (11) new trees will be planted in the park. Project is schedule to start in the first quarter of 2021, with completion in the third quarter of 2021. |
![]() Sanderson Gulch Dog Park and Playground Improvements
Improvements include a new dog park and renovated playground in Sanderson Gulch near the intersection of W. Arkansas Ave. and S. Navajo St. More public meetings are planned. After garnering input from the community, the neighbors prioritized the creation of pollinator habitat, garden, and an outdoor classroom at Sanderson Gulch Park, with the Grandoozy Community Fund. The portion of Sanderson Gulch Park that is receiving the pollinator garden, outdoor classroom, and trail improvements is approximately 12 acres and located across from Godsman Elementary School. Construction is expected to begin winter 2022. |
